Episode with Jesse Goitia MD
Jesse Goitia was born and raised in Sacramento, California. After graduating from high school,
he began working in a mental health facility, an experience that inspired him to study
psychology at the local community college and to ultimately transfer to the University of
California, Berkeley, where he earned his degree in psychology. While studying at UC Berkeley, he was working with the recreation staff at the Napa State Mental Hospital to provide socially enriching activities to the people confined to the facility. This inspired him to pursue a degree in medicine with the intention of becoming a psychiatrist. He went on to attend the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences where, his interests in medicine shifted and he chose to specialize in internal medicine with the intention of becoming a cardiologist. He returned to Sacramento, California for his training in internal medicine at the University of California, Davis, where he served as chief resident before joining the cardiology fellowship program at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. Dr. Goitia recently completed his training in general cardiology and is in the process of deciding where he will start his career as an attending cardiologist.
